Summer In Ogden: What's New Around The Bend, Ogden Park, And Middle Sound

Ogden runs on a different summer clock than the barrier islands ten minutes east. Wrightsville has its parking meters and its swell reports. Ogden has a three-acre compound under oak trees, a proposed retail plaza in front of a 288-unit apartment build, and a strawberry farm on Gordon Road that most of Wilmington drives past without noticing. If you already live here, the useful map isn't the tourist one. It's the short stretch of Market Street between Middle Sound Loop and Futch Creek Road, plus a few side turns off it. That's where almost everything worth your Saturday afternoon has landed.

The Bend is doing the work a neighborhood hub used to do

Fermental left Ogden for the Cargo District in 2022, and for a couple of years the corner of the map that used to hold weekend outdoor music and neighborly camaraderie sat empty. What replaced it is bigger and, frankly, better suited to how families in Middle Sound and Demarest actually spend a summer evening.
